Hyewon Medical Foundation Sejong Hospital, led by Chairman Park Jin-sik, has been introducing a range of digital solutions at Bucheon Sejong Hospital and Incheon Sejong Hospital to promote digital transformation in the healthcare sector. Recently, the use of AppSheet, a Google Workspace (GWS)-based tool, has been creating significant synergy across various hospital operations.

According to Sejong Hospital on the 2nd, GWS is an AI-based collaboration tool that supports shared document work, document centralization, communication, meetings, and schedule management. AppSheet is one of the tools within GWS that improves efficiency by automating repetitive and time-consuming tasks. Because it requires no coding, even non-specialists can easily create apps.

Sejong Hospital explained that the introduction of GWS AppSheet was driven by “inconveniences hidden behind familiarity.” The hospital analyzed that several factors had been slowing its digital transformation, including the difficulty of real-time collaboration, which often led staff to search for the latest version of files; documents fragmented across personal accounts, creating blind spots in security and handover processes; and a structure in which even small improvements in the field had to rely on a dedicated department, the Digital Innovation Office.

There are various examples of field-level workflow improvements using GWS AppSheet.

At a case presentation held on the 27th of last month at Vision Hall in Incheon Sejong Hospital, Bucheon Sejong Hospital presented successful cases using AppSheet, including integrated management of document and goods transport logs by the Human Resources and General Affairs Team, handover management for dedicated nurses by the Dedicated Nursing Team, linkage of ward treatment data and automation of patient lists by the Physical Therapy Team, and automated inspection schedule notifications by equipment by the Radiology Team.

Incheon Sejong Hospital also presented cases such as ward IV fluid inventory and billing management by the 9B Ward Team and automated linen distribution management by the Central Supply Team. Hyewon Medical Foundation shared its own successful case of using AppSheet for smart duty applications for nurses by the Customer Experience Management Office.

In particular, the Digital Innovation Office, which supports digital transformation in on-site operations, introduced automation achievements aimed at improving hospital administrative efficiency and patient safety. These included a system for checking patients’ prescribed medications and surgery/procedure histories for the Health Promotion Team, as well as an automated report for managing long-term inpatients for the Administration Team.

Sejong Hospital awarded the Grand Prize to Incheon Sejong Hospital’s 9B Ward Team, led by Team Leader Choi Se-ra. Excellence Awards were presented to Bucheon Sejong Hospital’s Physical Therapy Team, led by Team Leader Kim Se-yoon, and Hyewon Medical Foundation’s Customer Experience Management Office, led by Manager Lee Hye-ran, in recognition of their efforts.

Chairman Park Jin-sik said, “The various digital solutions Sejong Hospital has introduced over the years, together with the continuous efforts of our employees, are gradually accumulating and producing meaningful results. I am confident that digital transformation will enable us to accomplish even more.”

He added, “We will overcome various limitations and achieve Sejong Hospital’s own form of digital transformation, one that is led and

completed directly by those working in the field.”
