Bucheon Sejong Hospital, Korea’s Only Specialized Heart Hospital,
Selected as Regional Responsible Medical Institution for the Bucheon Area
Bucheon Sejong Hospital, Korea’s only specialized heart hospital (Chairman: Jin-Sik Park), announced on Friday the 29th
that it has been officially selected as the Regional Responsible Medical Institution for the Bucheon
area under the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s Public Healthcare Cooperation System Development Project.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare conducted an open call for regional responsible medical institutions
from January 9 to February 2 to establish a stronger essential healthcare system in areas without designated institutions.
As a result, 23 medical institutions nationwide applied, and 13 were ultimately selected.
With this selection, long-standing gaps in essential healthcare services in the Gyeongin
region are expected to be resolved, and a more robust public healthcare system will be established.
Bucheon Sejong Hospital is the only hospital in Korea officially designated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare as
a specialized heart hospital, with recognized expertise in treating severe cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.
Chairman Jin-Sik Park of Sejong Hospital Medical Foundation stated,

reflects the high quality and reliability of Sejong Hospital’s medical services. In particular, at a time when reform of the essential
healthcare system is drawing great attention, the designation of Bucheon Sejong Hospital and Incheon Sejong Hospital
as regional responsible medical institutions carries significant meaning.”

cardiovascular and cerebrovascular centers, government-supported centers, and local public health institutions.
Through this framework, they will promote cooperative projects such as the transfer and referral of critically ill emergency patients,
community linkage for discharged patients, and infection control and patient safety management.

Meanwhile, Bucheon Sejong Hospital and Incheon Sejong Hospital have consistently received excellent evaluations
in annual emergency medical institution assessments.
To further enhance infection control and patient safety, they established a Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Headquarters in 2018,
