Hyehwon Medical Foundation Sejong Hospital announced on the 28th that it has been designated as a “2025 Excellent Medical Tourism Institution” by the Ministry of Justice.
An “Excellent Medical Tourism Institution” is a designation certified by the Ministry of Justice—the authority responsible for immigration administration—under the Act on Overseas Expansion of Healthcare and Attraction of International Patients. The designation is granted after a comprehensive review of institutions that attract foreign patients, including their records of inviting overseas patients for medical care and visa refusal rates.
With this designation, Bucheon Sejong Hospital and Incheon Sejong Hospital are authorized to invite foreign nationals through electronic visa (e-Visa) applications on the Korea Visa Portal. In addition, foreign patients visiting Bucheon and Incheon Sejong Hospitals are eligible for various immigration benefits, including exemption from submitting proof of financial capability when applying for an e-Visa, as well as an expanded scope of accompanying caregivers’ family members to include collateral relatives within the fourth degree.
Sejong Hospital, which operates Korea’s only specialized cardiac hospital, has achieved a “triple crown” of medical institution accreditations. It was the first in Korea to obtain certification from the Joint Commission International (JCI), along with national accreditation for acute care hospitals and certification as an institution authorized to attract foreign patients by the Korea Institute for Healthcare Accreditation (KAHF).
Recognized annually by the Ministry of Justice as an excellent medical tourism institution, Sejong Hospital has firmly established itself as a foreign patient–friendly hospital. Since launching its international patient program in 2009, the hospital has treated more than 500 foreign patients each year, including those with severe cardiovascular diseases, earning a reputation as a safe and trustworthy medical institution for both domestic and international patients.
